Back at Memorial Day we headed down to Monroe to hang out with Steph's family and to celebrate Jessica's graduation. Seemed like an appropriate holiday to revisit American Gothic.

So I'm in Monroe for the Memorial day long weekend and there is a local business owner who shares a mutual affection for Stephanie's family. I've long heard of him but never met him—until tonight. Raj is originally from Delhi (India, not Del-High, Louisiana (they seriously call it del-high), moved to London, New York, and then middle of fucking nowhere Monroe (Swartz), Louisiana. Every time Steph asks for his story as to how he got he he just says it's a long story and won't tell it. I assume he's on the run from the law. Or is in witness protection. Or a spy. Totally a spy. (A nice spy)

Anyway. He was great and we chatted about India and food stuffs and general nonsense. I'll hang out with him again...guaranteed.

So it seems to be a 4x5 kind of week. Pardon the composition...I was shooting handheld at 4.7 around sunset in the shade WAY under an appropriate distance for ignoring parallax error.

So it is apparently and E.T. weekend! I also shot 4x5 today, including a portrait of E.T. as well as E.T. with Sadie the cutest ever dog.

Trying to think of other relevant information. I'm having a good time. That's about it.

Also, I've thought about shooting a series of E.T. enduring modern life. Id est, he has his house foreclosed upon or grocery shopping.

Day 005

So, it is day five it seems. Just like last year I immediately have places to go and things to do which will almost assuredly put me off schedule a bit for electric lion. I had a lovely hang out time with Tammy and Jamie tonight and look forward to getting back to africa to work on the things they create.

It was unbelievably foggy this morning and I took of my skyline. I shoot that thing all the time. You could only see to the BTW building today. Fog Fog Fog.

I also shot caleb this evening playing one of my ukes. He is already in love.

New York tomorrow. Kind of nervous.

a recent (halloween) visit to monroe to see stephanie netted more dog cuteness. its hard to take a photo of sadie and it not be cute and i dont like dogs, really. animals i guess is better. i have a list of them that are awesome and i'll hang out with (similar to my kid-list. its VERY short)...suffice to say sadie is on the list.

so this is a random note to say thanks to everyone who has given feedback so far. for some reason i dont generally respond, but i read it and appreciate it.

here are steph's parents. this is a random candid shot amid our mildly awkward family picture thing. it really wasn't awkward but i feel like it was supposed to haven awkwardness to it so everyone just assumed it was there. they are solid. her whole family is solid honestly...all the way down to their dogs (one of which is 100% all the time adorable and another which no one can figure out how she is still alive). they have 1.5* cats too but i dont count them.

*this could be taken a couple of ways. the one cat thats still around is called fat cat so it could be a crack on its weight, but what i really meant it as is that they one cat (fat cat) still hanging around their house and another one who vanished a while back but no one knows its status. i'll assume its off somewhere posing for photos to be made fun of online, or perhaps a feline version of the dogs-playing-poker thats been around so long.
